Finding Awesomeness Through Adversity

An Incredible Journey of Resilience & the Power of Choice

My memoir details my personal journey of living with terminal Motor Neurone Disease. It is a heartfelt narrative about resilience amidst adversity, showcasing an indomitable will to live fully despite the circumstances.

My journey with MND has been a long crazy ride. I thought for some time that I had lost my purpose in life, however having this disease has revealed my true purpose of inspiring others through my journey.

Writing my book has been a very personal and fulfilling journey and has given me the opportunity to reflect on the lessons I’ve learnt along the way.

Who else, other than the awesome Leanne S, could write an inspiring life story, conduct motivational talks and give 110% to all that she does while coping with the ever increasing challenges of MND. Leanne, your book is beautiful despite the hurdles you have faced and continue to ‘jump’ over. You are so so positive, but really honest telling us of the lows you have faced, especially during the cruel lockdown in Victoria. Leanne, you are my friend always, and if possible I love you more after reading your book. Many more chapters to live and complete dear and I know you will do this with as much fun and humour as possible. You go girl!

Leanne has been living with MND for about 7 years. She is such an amazing person and so very inspirational to everyone she meets. Leanne encourages others to find awesomeness in our lives, no matter what our individual challenges are. Leanne certainly lives that way herself. I can’t recommend this book highly enough – so inspiring and so honest!

I was delighted to unwrap this gem yesterday – Leanne Sklavenitis is one gutsy woman, still sucking the marrow out of life 7 years into her living with MND (Motor Neuron Disease) journey.
MND is such a devastating prognosis, and the seven people I know each chose a different way to live with it. As it should be. We might think we know the best or right way, but honestly, we really don’t. All we can do is be present and offer support how and as needed, and bow out gracefully if not needed. Life is hard enough for them without dealing with our angst and bruised egos.
    Rock on, Leanne Sklavenitis!

I can just see you “bossing” people around & showing those who think you “can’t” that you definitely “Can”.
Keep being Awesome xxx Love Barb

Leanne is awesome! When I heard of her diagnosis, I commented to my husband, “if there is anybody in this world who could beat or change MND it will be her.” I’ve just finished reading her memoir, wow! Maintaining such indomitable spirit under such adverse condition. Is more awesome and impressive than awesome. There are lesson here for everyone. Easy entertaining read.

Over many years I consider myself to be so blessed to have Leanne as my friend, and together we’ve been through the ups and downs that life can throw at you but we didn’t know that life would throw MND at her.

I’ve always known Leanne was awesome and the way she keeps fighting the beast is not only inspiring but testament of the amazing human she is.

I’m so proud to be part of her life and to witness everything she achieves and will keep on achieving.

I would encourage everyone to buy her book, not only to share the journey she is on but it will make you realise how rare it is to be part of this incredible woman’s life – she is one in a million. She changes lives for the better and this book proves it!

I love her with all my heart ❤️

I read Leanne’s ‘Finding Awesomeness Through Adversity’ over Easter and my admiration for Leanne and Steve’s work (and the team) in not giving in to MND is huge. MND can hit anyone for no apparent reason and Leanne has shown us her journey to stay ‘Awesome’ regardless of how very difficult life gets. Leanne is an inspiration and I recommend reading this memoir. You will be inspired to find your own ‘Awesomeness’. Thank you Leanne for sharing your journey so far.
